Conducting an organizational assessment provides the lens to make strategic decisions. A good process sets the stage for candid and more in-depth conversations about improvement initiatives. Benson has used a variety of tools to do organizational assessments. Organizational assessments are encouraged for strategic planning efforts but can also be done independently.

Stakeholder assessment

Self-evaluated online tool (iCAT)

  • Stakeholders (board and staff) will anonymously rate and evaluate the core

  • Gives a holistic view of any nonprofit  

  • Determines leading recommendations for capacity building efforts

Peer Review

Benson will review and evaluate an organization’s operational excellence by reviewing items such as:

  • Financials

  • Policies and procedures

  • Bylaws

  • Employee handbook

  • Board minutes

  • Committee structures

  • Board recruitment processes

  • Marketing and branding

  • Grants denied and received

  • Logic models

  • Program evaluations

  • And others as needed
