Executive Director, House Nashville
House Nashville brings government, business, philanthropy, and community partners together to turn Nashville’s housing strategy into results.
Founding Executive Director, House Nashville
Nashville, Tennessee | Salary $180,000 to $195,000 | Apply by November 24, 2026
House Nashville is the city’s new cross-sector housing backbone, co-launched by the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee and the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce. Nashville’s Unified Housing Strategy calls for approximately 90,000 additional homes over the next decade, and it named a clear gap: no single organization was in place to align the public, private, philanthropic, and community partners needed to get there. House Nashville was created to close that gap.
House Nashville does not build homes or duplicate existing work. It aligns strategy and resources, removes barriers, mobilizes capital, builds public support, and holds the community accountable for results. The model draws on HouseATL in Atlanta, and the organization is fiscally sponsored by the Community Foundation.
The Role
The founding Executive Director will build House Nashville from the ground up and partner closely with its Advisory Board. In the first year, the work centers on:
Launching a Nashville Housing Capital Collaborative and growing a pipeline of local, state, and national funding and investment
Turning the Unified Housing Strategy into a focused set of priorities with work plans, lead partners, and shared public measures of progress
Hiring the founding team and securing a diversified, multi-year operating funding base
Who We’re Looking For
Candidates should bring substantial housing finance experience, including fluency with capital stacks, financing gaps, and tools such as PRIs, MRIs, guarantees, and public funding. A track record of mobilizing capital for housing or community development is essential, along with existing relationships with foundations, CRA-motivated banks, CDFIs, and impact investors. The strongest candidates have led cross-sector partnerships, launched something new, and earned credibility with civic, business, and neighborhood leaders alike.
