Friends of Radnor Lake (FORL) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting, preserving, and promoting the natural integrity of Radnor State Park Natural Area through conservation, education, and community engagement. We work in close collaboration with park leadership, community partners, and dedicated supporters to enhance the experience of all who visit this cherished natural space.

 

Position Summary

As the only staff member, the Operations and Engagement Director plays a pivotal role in ensuring the effective day-to-day functioning of Friends of Radnor Lake, supporting the mission through strong administrative systems, fiscal oversight, event coordination, and donor engagement. This position acts as a hub of internal operations and external communications, maintaining organizational compliance, and serving as a liaison between the board, park staff, volunteers, and the broader community.

 

Key Responsibilities

Organizational Operations & Compliance

  • Prepare and submit required filings: Annual Report to Secretary of State, Charitable Solicitations Renewal, TN Corporate filings, License Plate reports, and other compliance documentation.

  • Coordinate with accountants for annual audit, 990 tax filings, W2s, and 1099s.

  • Oversee insurance renewals including D&O and general liability coverage.

  • Maintain and update operational policies and procedures.

  • Filing of the Annual Report and ensure accurate year-end donation statements and acknowledgments.

  • Prepare monthly financial statements for review by the Treasurer and the Board.

Finance & Budgeting

  • Collaborate with the Treasurer and Finance Committee to develop and manage annual budgets and financial reports.

  • Track and record donations, in-kind gifts, and expenditures.

  • Process accounts payable and receivable and generate invoices as needed.

  • Maintain organized financial records in accordance with nonprofit best practices.

Community Engagement & Park Support

  • Coordinate with the Park Manager to support volunteer days, educational hikes, and special events such as American Eagle Day, Rachel Carson Day, and Earth Day.

  • Support the logistics and execution of community programming and stewardship activities.

Board and Committee Support

  • Prepare materials and coordinate logistics for monthly Board meetings.

  • Maintain clear and regular communication with the Board and committees.

  • Attend Board and committee meetings as needed and provide reports and updates.

  • Meet regularly with Board President and Vice President to align on strategic priorities.

Fundraising & Donor Engagement

  • Coordinate the Annual Giving campaign, Giving Tuesday, and other fundraising initiatives.

  • Support the development and execution of donor engagement and planned giving strategies.

  • Assist with grant and sponsorship proposal submissions.

  • Maintain accurate donor records and database and prepare reports for the Board.

  • Ensure donor recognition efforts are timely and meaningful and update FORL’s GivingMatters.com profile.

Event Planning & Execution

  • Assist in the planning and delivery of signature fundraising and community events, including the Environmental Awards, Chestnut Group Art Show, and Radnor in the Round.

  • Procure event insurance, vendors, photographers, and coordinate event logistics and volunteer support.

Marketing & Communications

  • Collaborate with the Marketing Committee to produce quarterly newsletters and email campaigns.

  • Help manage social media content, holiday cards, promotional materials, and website updates.

  • Process merchandise sales (e.g., t-shirts) and support production of the annual calendar.

  • Assist in public relations efforts and coordination with marketing/PR consultants.

 

Qualifications

  • Experience in nonprofit operations and administration preferred.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with attention to detail.

  • Familiarity with nonprofit financial management and compliance.

  • Proficiency in software such as Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, donor databases, and web/social platforms.

  • Passion for conservation and a commitment to FORL’s mission.

 

Working Environment

This is a hybrid role with flexibility for remote work and in-person responsibilities at Radnor Lake and related events. Evening and weekend availability is occasionally required for special events and volunteer coordination.

 

Salary and Benefits

The annual salary range for the position is $80,000-$85,000. Benefits include healthcare stipend, 20 days of PTO, paid Federal and State holidays.
