Development and Stewardship Manager

THE ROLE

The Development and Stewardship Manager focuses on individual donors and funder partners and leading implementation of fundraising strategies. As an integral part of the Development and Marketing Teams, this position plans and pursues strategies to meet and exceed annual revenue goals through private contributions (including individual giving through annual appeals, online fundraising, major gifts and planned gifts), corporate partnerships/sponsorships, grants and an annual fundraiser (Sage Awards). This position also contributes to compelling storytelling and marketing strategies to build awareness and grow financial support.

 

This is a 40-hour-per-week position that offers hybrid work and supports work/life balance. The majority of hours must be performed during core business hours (M–F, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.), with at least two days a week working at the office with team members. Schedule flexibility can be negotiated.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

As Development and Stewardship Manager, you will serve on the Development and Marketing Teams and be responsible for:

 

Revenue Development and Donor/Funder Stewardship (45% of time)

  • Participate in strategic decision-making regarding AgeWell’s revenue development and diversification strategies and lead key aspects of meeting revenue goals.

  • Plan and lead the implementation of annual fundraising strategies and campaign goals, aligning with AgeWell’s strategic plan and encompassing donor cultivation and retention, gift/sponsor solicitation, and intentional stewardship.

  • Actively participate in regular meetings of the Development Team (staff), Development Committee (board/volunteer), Ambassadors Council, and Sage Awards Committee, building strong relationships and coordinating their assistance in reaching fundraising goals.

  • Expand the portfolio of prospects, donors, funders and corporate partners through prospect research, identification and cultivation of new supporters.

  • Manage a comprehensive donor & funder relations plan, including communications and impact storytelling, timely gift acknowledgements and impact reports.

  • In partnership with the Executive Director and Development and Operations Director, identify and cultivate prospects, and solicit major gifts from individuals, foundations and businesses.

  • In partnership with the Executive Director and Development and Operations Director, identify, cultivate, and solicit planned gifts from longtime AgeWell donors and volunteers.

  • Plan and coordinate Mid-Year and End-of-Year appeals, AgeWell Giving Day (August 21 – National Senior Citizen Day), and Giving Tuesday campaigns, implementing strategies that engage board members, volunteers, and donors.

 

Sponsor Solicitation and Fundraising Event Support (30% of time)

  • Provide leadership in event planning and execution of AgeWell’s annual fundraiser, including securing and stewarding sponsors, table hosts and donations.

  • Work with the Development and Programs Teams to secure corporate sponsors for the Scam of the Month, resource guides and special projects.

 

Grant Writing and Reporting (15% of time)

  • Utilize online and AI tools to research, write, and report on grants to support priority programs and agency operations, coordinating proposals with the Programs Team and agency leadership.

  • Help identify, research, and pursue new grant prospects.

 

Marketing and Communications (5% of time)

  • As part of the Marketing Team, recommend strategies and work with teammates to increase awareness and visibility of AgeWell in the community.

  • Clearly convey AgeWell’s mission and impact through oral and written communication and storytelling.

 

Development Reporting and Tech-Enabled Process Improvements (5% of time)

  • Contribute to monthly development dashboards, analysis, and reports on the overall effectiveness of fundraising campaigns and events for board meetings, applicable committee meetings, and as requested by the Executive Director.

  • Recommend and pursue process improvements and technology enhancements to improve operational efficiency and stewardship.

  • Manage and optimize AgeWell’s CRM to support fundraising strategies.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • At least five years of relevant fundraising experience in a nonprofit organization with demonstrated success; marketing experience and CFRE certification or progress toward certification a plus.

  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Confident and articulate spokesperson for AgeWell in both one-on-one and group settings.

  • Outgoing personality with high emotional intelligence; able to work independently, collaboratively and effectively with committees and teams.

  • Proven experience planning and executing successful fundraising events and donor campaigns; experience with donor segmentation, major gifts and planned giving is a plus.

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate integrity and dependability.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and donor databases; familiarity with Google Workspace preferred.

  • Flexible schedule with availability for occasional evenings and weekends.

 

SALARY:  $60,000 – $63,000 per year
